Photo-Etching Edition of 10 Dimensions (WxH): 30 x 24cm
Rebecca Gleeson is an artist & printmaker who mainly works through the mediums of drawing and etching.
Her recent projects have been focused on the last expedition of Captain Scott, who went to Antarctica in an attempt to reach the south pole. She has been using printmaking as its slow processes tap into the slow, arduous work of polar exploration; man-hauling, battling frostbite and snow blindness.
Gleeson’s work concerns themes of isolation, memory, distance, and narrative. These are explored through the use of polar imagery and landscapes as well as seascapes, image appropriation, found materials, and making use of archival and museum presentation methods.
She graduated from Dublin’s National College of Art & Design in 2021 with a BA, and an MFA in 2026. Gleeson has been a member of Black Church Print Studio in Dublin 2, since 2021.
