Born in London in the 1980s, Jenny Bell studied BA Illustration before completing an MA in Printmaking, developing a practice rooted in drawing, print and two-dimensional communication. Since 2010 she has worked as a professional screen print editioner and lecturer while continuing to expand her own studio practice.
Bell creates contemporary abstract works on paper and metal for collectors and interior designers, exploring rhythm, stillness and the quiet complexity of repetition.
Central to Bell's practice is an enduring fascination with line. Rather than treating line as a fixed mark, she understands it as movement, conversation and trace. The print bed becomes a space for improvisation, while the photocopier functions as both a drawing tool and a thinking device to create original works.
Bell draws inspiration from naturally occurring patterns and invisible forces, from the shifting reflections on swimming pool water to geological pressure beneath the Earth's surface and the movement of gravitational waves through space. Her screen prints are built through successive layers of opaque ink that both conceal and reveal, allowing colour and line to exist in continuous dialogue.
