Emma Molony (born in Zimbabwe in 1977) is a UK printmaker and wallpaper designer living in Devon.
Emma uses a variety of printmaking processes in her work – both intaglio, relief and explores experimental and multi-disciplinary processes such as lithino (combining litho and linocut) or screenprint with lasercutting, photoetching with chine collé.
I work in linocut, lithography, screenprint, etching, and monotype, using the distinct qualities and constraints of each medium. The process is inherently one of problem-solving; its limitations invite experimentation, and the unexpected results continue to push the work in new directions.
Her screenprinted wallpaper and prints illustrate folklore and fairytales; the human relationship with wolves is a dominant theme. She also uses printmaking to document the extraordinary Jurassic coast where she lives and walks.
Emma works at Double Elephant Print Workshop, running their outreach projects and using her portable press to take printmaking out to schools and groups who wouldn’t usually have the opportunity to enjoy the alchemic magic of print.
