Helen Delany is an Irish artist based in London. She mainly works across print and textile. Her new body of print work 'The Number Series' is grounded in Delany’s ongoing research, material experimentation and technical refinement in printmaking practices. Intaglio has emerged as her central methodological process; experimental hybrid prints, multi plate etchings and printmaking in the expanded field (box installations). The work negotiates the tension between a private creative process and public display, involving differing expectations and interpretations. Thematically, it operates with interconnected hidden narratives, where the personal, vulnerability and ‘secrets’ converge to evoke affective response. Small 3D chalkboard painted boxes hold the most intimate marks of all the prints, visible only through peepholes. In addition, Delany constructs printmaking collages from fragments of her private life, developed from her Tetra-Sketches (2023–), a series of Tetra Pak drawings made across London, Ibiza, Barcelona, Málaga and beyond. Delany graduated from Dublin’s National College of Art & Design and studied at Central Saint Martins, London, and the School of Visual Arts, New York. She recently completed an MA in Fine Art Printmaking at Middlesex University. She is co-founder of Electronic Sheep (1998), a collaborative art practice, and lectures at Middlesex University.
