Louisa Boyd’s work explores the universal human desire to belong, drawing on cartography, sacred geometry and the natural world to investigate place, identity and connection. Rooted in traditional craftsmanship, her practice combines heritage techniques with a contemporary visual language.
Zephyr, inspired by changing blue skies, reflects the lightness and movement of air through repeating geometric forms. Delicate, map-like surface markings evoke celestial navigation, while the transition from soft white to luminous blue mirrors shifting light and atmosphere, inviting contemplation of our relationship with nature and place.
Louisa Boyd is a multidisciplinary artist who works with printmaking and sculpture. For over twenty years she has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, London Art Fair, Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Wells Contemporary, the Royal West of England Academy, and at Escher in het Paleis, The Netherlands. In 2023 she was awarded a QEST scholarship to develop her printmaking practice.
