Karen Camkin is a painter printmaker and a graduate of the RCA (24) whose practice draws on plant narratives, fragments of memory and everyday observations, exploring our close ties with the natural world and how it can be a mirror for human experience. She works between woodcut, monotype and painting, combining techniques to create portraits of plants, urging the viewer's eyes to wander slowly across the surface; suggesting through looking, we may experience distraction and absorption in the consolations and rich references that can be found in nature. She has been selected for The RWA Annual Open 2026, The Lynn Painter Stainer Prize, Discerning Eye, the National Trust, Nature in Art Museum & Gallery and at the St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery. In 2025 she was selected for a group exhibition at Watson Farley & Williams that highlighted issues around the natural world and humans’ impact on it; curated by Dickson Russell Art Management. Her work has recently been acquired by The Royal College of Art’s Collection, Clifford Chance’s Print Collection and Travers Smith’s Art Collection.
