Lucie (b.1995, London) uses drawing, print and sculpture to forensically archive overlooked urban spaces. Liminal places encountered in Lucie's immediate environment are a recurring site of interest in her work. She draws attention to landscapes that are ubiquitous but infrequently examined, from the boarded-up thresholds of disused doors and windows to the borderlands where London dissolves into canals, heaths and other untamed spaces. Lucie’s work often deals with the translation between drawing and print. Images start as intricate ink drawings in which time dense approaches to mark making lengthen and pay homage to ephemeral and profound experiences of the overlooked. Gaps and slippages created by the movement between drawing and print accentuate the distortion already apparent in images drawn from reflections in water. Lucie holds an MA in Print from The Royal College of Art and a BA in Painting and Printmaking from Glasgow School of Art. This year her works have been shortlisted for the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize and the London Graphics Centre Art Prize.
