For extended time Alice Valentina Biga’s work has expressed a need to elaborate her family past, using traditional and photographic intaglio techniques. Her current practice pushes the boundaries of what is considered liminal space. These explorations wander between urban and conceptual spaces. At times combining printmaking with photographs and drawings, her intention has always been and is to create an intuitive connection with the heart of the image observer. Her visual research has been evolving from a morbid dialogue between the family past experiences to a composition of abstract elements and urban landscapes. The work fluctuates between hand drawn elements and photographs using a variety of intaglio and planographic techniques. Valentina graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2012 with an MA in Printmaking. She has exhibited widely since 2012 in several independent shows and larger mixed exhibitions. Highlights include the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2024 and 2017, Bite Artists Making Prints, On Paper, Bainbridge Open and Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair.
