Artists Statement Anita Geaney 2026. Anita Geaney was born into a London Irish family and her frequent visits back to Ireland in her youth fostered a love of this country and of nature. She moved to Cork in 1999. Anita is a painter and printmaker and has been a member of Cork Printmakers Studio since 2017. Working in mostly stone lithography print, her main source of inspiration is found in nature filled spaces. Her practice reflects the joy and energy found in the natural world, focusing on it's beauty, whilst also seeking to bring awareness to the need to care and respect our environment. Both her painting and printmaking practices start from observational drawings. The work combines realism and abstraction, imagination and memory. It consists of energetic layering of colour and line, creating vibrant, dynamic images. Her work is found in private collections and in the Office of Public Works for the State Art Collection, Ireland.
