Obaid is a Glasgow-based interdisciplinary artist originally from Pakistan. She graduated with Distinction from the MFA programme at The Glasgow School of Art in 2024 as a Saltire Scholar, where she was awarded the GSA Chairman’s Medal for Best in the School of Fine Art. Her recent accolades include the Art Lab Women in Print Prize at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Visual Arts Scotland + Bothy Residency Award, Gilbert Bayes Sculptors Grant, Boom Saloon Arts and Social Change Award at VAS's Annual Exhibition 2025, and selection for No Place Art Edition 2: Materiality. Trained in miniature painting at the National College of Arts, Lahore, she now works across painting, printmaking, sculpture and performance. Her practice is rooted in love, healing and a longing for peace in a world shaped by conflict and destruction. As a mother, she reflects on the vulnerability and future of children, transforming grief, tenderness and quiet hope into material form. Through contemplative, process-led making, she creates works that hold fragility and resilience in balance, inviting moments of reflection, empathy and the possibility of renewal.
