  • Boodle Hatfield is a law firm with over 300 years of experience. Their specialist Art Law & More team is considered one of the best in the field, due to their understanding of the complexities of the market and our commitment to results.

    Boodle Hatfield have partnered with Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair since 2019, and do huge amounts to foster the arts.

  • ​Every year our friends from the specialist Art Law & More team choose their favourite artworks from WCPF, as a shortlist for the prestigious Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize. The pieces are then exhibited at the Boodle Hatfield offices for a wonderful evening celebrating the very best of printmaking, where the winner is announced.

    The winner of the prestigious prize receives a solo showcase at the following year’s event, and their artwork is purchased for the Boodle Hatfield collection in Central London.

  • All open-call artists exhibiting at the fair are automatically entered into the Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize.

Previous Winners

  • Ley Roberts

    Ley Roberts is the winner of the 2023 Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize, with her print Somewhere Else, 2021. Ley's work uses time-worn methods and materials, pen and ink and traditional printmaking techniques, predominantly intaglio. She uses these techniques to capture the light in her images, demonstrating how light can change the atmosphere or enhance a subject, inspiring the viewer to discover the beauty in unusual places.

  • Hannah Gilson

    Hannah Gilson won the Boodle Hatfield Printmaking Prize 2022 for her print, "I'll Bring you Flowers", an eight layer screen print. Her mixed media practice combines painting, screen printing and drawing. Here is Hannah’s solo showcase at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2023.

  • JAKE GARFIELD

    Jake Garfield work ‘Private View’ was shortlisted for the prize from the 2020 fair, but due to the pandemic the ceremony was delayed. However his triumph was confirmed in 2021 and we look forward to seeing his solo showcase at the 2021 fair.

  • SADIE TIERNEY

    Sadie Tierney won the prize in 2019 for her print ‘Utpåturaldrisur: Westwater Screes' (2019), and was awarded a solo exhibition space at the 2020 edition of the fair. Due to the pandemic, this was postponed until 2021. Here the artist is with a new series of 14 woodcuts for the show, around the theme of mountains.
